DSA ADI

Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructors (DSA ADI):

Approved Driving Instructor Badge

DSA ADIs have all passed a driving theory examination, a stringent driving skills assessment and a training and instructional techniques examination.

Professional driver training can only be carried out by qualified ADIs. Any company who offers driver training on road with non ADI trainers is breaking the law, and any insurance will be invalid.

The DSA require all registered ADIs to undertake check test training on a regular basis dependant upon their previous grading.

The lowest grade for a qualified ADI is grade 4, and the highest (held by less than 10% of ADIs) is grade 6.

DSA ADIs are the only people who can legally provide training to car drivers and many work in advanced fields, training police, 4×4 drivers, on race tracks and in company cars, vans and 4×4s. Unfortunately the driver training industry is slow in adapting the the recent legislation changes and many people are still being illegally trained in car driving by instructors who are not DSA ADIs - ensure that whoever trains you or your drivers is qualified - look for the green badge. If your trainer cannot show you one then they are not qualified.
